The Sheffield SCITT’s Top Tips for Submitting Your Application

Read 3 easy tips below for submitting your teacher training application.

Be prepared

The application form will ask you for a selection of information, some of which you may want to start preparing now. Things such as:

  • GCSEs and grades

  • Degree and grade

  • Any additional qualifications

  • Any relevant work experience

  • Personal statement

It might be beneficial to start writing your personal statement now, and checking over the grades of your qualifications!

Think about your timing

We have more space and flexibility with placements at the start of the recruitment year, so it could be beneficial to submit your application earlier on in the recruitment year.

This doesn’t mean that you won’t get an interview or place on the course if you apply later on the year, but as placement allocations fill up in our partner schools, we have less flexibility to offer.

There are also some subjects that are recruited to really quickly, so we have to close recruitment for these subjects.

Have a think about when you are going to submit your application.

Check, check, and check again!

Before pressing submit, make sure you proof read your application.

  • Are you missing any punctuation?

  • Have you made any spelling errors?

  • Have you used correct grammar?

  • Is your personal statement formatted for easy reading?

Don’t be tripped up by simple mistakes!
