Rebecca Snitch - Secondary SCITT trainee 2019-2020
I have secured a job at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield teaching History.
I started applying for jobs in February 2020 and secured this position at the end of March.
My training year with the Sheffield SCITT has been a huge learning curve – it’s been intense but I’ve loved it.
Some personal highlights for me have been building relationships with other trainees, mentors, department staff and the students I have had the pleasure to teach. Seeing students positively engage in lessons and develop a passion for History has been extremely rewarding and exciting.
The workload itself is challenging – my placement school are redesigning their KS3 curriculum, meaning there is a lot of planning from scratch. While this is challenging and has led to many hours spent planning lessons, it is certainly a challenge I have enjoyed and have seen the benefits of!
The training I received from the SCITT definitely put me in good stead for applying for jobs and attending interviews. I have been blessed with great mentors who happily read through my personal statement and offered advice on my applications, as well as good direction from the SCITT training sessions on what interviewers are looking for and how to present the best version of yourself.
