Rebecca Hammonds, one of our Primary SCITT trainees here at The Sheffield SCITT has secured a job in the primary school she trained in!
Recently, I have secured a job at St. Catherine's Catholic Primary School. This has been my home school during my SCITT year.
The training I have received has been exceptionally valuable when applying for teaching positions. Trainees were supported in writing their personal statements, and were invited to an employability workshop, therefore when it came to applications and interviewing I felt prepared and confident to show all I had learnt!
I began applying for jobs at the beginning of February and I was extremely lucky to have secured a position by early March.
One thing I would say to future trainees is to be organised, the job application process does require time and attention. At this point in the year, the work expectations do step up, but by ensuring I was organised I was able to manage the work load.
