Train to teach in England!
We are excited to be able to open up our languages and physics teacher training places to citizens from the Republic of Ireland.
Sheffield and the South Yorkshire region, are quite simply a fabulous place to live and start a teacher training course. Not only is Sheffield the greenest city in Europe, it is also well know for being one of the friendliest! Here are just a few more of the reasons why Sheffield is such a great place to live.
Why not find out for yourself why Sheffield has one of the highest retention rates for graduates in the UK, at just over 40% with an International Relocation Payment (IRP) of £10,000, to assist with the cost of moving.
The International Relocation Payment (IRP) is a single payment of £10,000 which will be available to eligible trainees who are citizens in the Republic of Ireland who want to train to teach languages and physics.
The payment is designed to cover:
the costs of visas
the immigration health surcharge
other relocation expenses
The IRP will offer financial support to trainees from the Republic of Ireland who wish to come to train with the Sheffield SCITT. It will be paid around the end of the trainee’s first term. It will not need to be repaid.
Teacher trainees accessing an IRP can also access either a bursary or scholarship, if they meet the eligibility criteria.
The scheme will run for trainees starting in September 2023.
If this sounds like the perfect next step for you, there are 3 types of financial support you can get if you’re interested in training to teach languages and physics:
an international relocation payment worth £10,000 for languages and physics
bursaries worth up to £27,000 for languages and physics
scholarships worth up to £29,000 for French, German, Spanish and Physics
If you are eligible, you can receive both an international relocation payment and a bursary or scholarship. You cannot receive both a bursary and a scholarship.
